New Forum Address and website status update
Happy 2010! Along with a new DECADE, just-hunt.com has a new forum address! http://forum.just-hunt.com/
To go with the new forum's address, very shortly there will be a site overhaul, complete with a storefront, a multimedia gallery, photo gallery, and some other enhancements.
Rick has done a fantastic job building just-hunt.com, especially in light that he was building his experience as he went. I can tell you first-hand the blood, sweat, and broken keyboards that goes into building a website from the ground up in HTML.
What Rick found was the site's maintenance became extraordinarily time-consuming and thus burdensome. Kevin's HTML skills are rudimentary, as he has struggled over the years to do what he could. I have felt their pain many times.
Thankfully, we now have the technology to automate much of the site's functions and maintenance. It comes at a steep price: the difficulty of learning the new system is frequently outside the skill level of most non-IT folks. Not only that, it takes far longer to learn than HTML or running a blog. The rewards are great for those that undertake the task. But unless someone has the technical background _and_ the time to learn, the framework systems are just impractical given life's daily adventures.
So please have nothing but admiration for Rick and Kevin for their toils over the past years.
As an IT consultant, I was paid by a client last year to learn to use the website framework that will be the heart of just-hunt.com. Even with my 15+ years of experience, the task was time-consuming and occasionally maddening. Rick and Kevin would likely never have had the time to create the new site. Plus, it is superbly difficult to take what you have spent countless hours toiling over and working on and essentially start from scratch. Folks, there is no easy way to convert from HTML to a web framework.
Needless to say, despite Kevin and Rick's best efforts, they simply did not have the time and energy to devote to remaking the site; maintaining the site and the blog was even nearly overwhelming in itself at times. Please understand that I am not "tooting" my own horn - I am explaining from a professional's point of view the insurmountable obstacles that Rick and Kevin have faced. I just want everyone to understand the past and the future of just-hunt.com.
The good news is that once the site is up and running, it is much easier to maintain and grow. You will see rapid changes and exciting enhancements soon. And a site that won't be a chore or burden to run. There is a lot to do over the next few weeks, and even the next couple of months. Please bear with me and the rest of the wonderful folks here while we bring just-hunt.com into the new decade!
In peace, and hopes for a prosperous, healthy, and safe 2010 to you and your loved ones!
Robert~

The 2nd Amendment is the only thing standing between Freedom and the alternative.
The 2nd Amendment was not designed for hunters, or even for establishing the army of the government. It was, and is, designed to allow the citizens to protect themselves from any threat, especially their own government. Period.
9/11 would never had happened had the 2nd Amendment been allowed to exist as the Founding Fathers intended and society still respected.
