Post 5 July hunt with family
The family decided to stay at the cabin on our lease the night of the fourth, and make a short hunt with the kids on the morning of the fifth, since I had Monday off from work. We got everybody ready and dropped dogs out at about six thirty Monday morning. We hunted for a few hours without much luck, but the weather was cooperating and the kids were still in a good mood, so we decided to rest everybody up at a tank we like to go to and let the dogs get in a swim and then hunt one last small section of the pasture before calling it a day. We rested up for a while, then made the last loop with no luck and started heading back to the cabin. I was kinda bummed thinking we were gonna get skunked, but the dogs started acting piggy around a patch of woods next the trail. We killed the vehicles and sat back to wait and listen. In about ten minutes we heard Cason's dog, Blue open up about a hundred fifty yards off the trail. We waited for the other two dogs, Betty and Cleatus, to get there and then drove as close as we could. When we stopped, we only had about fifty yards to walk so Cason got to see everything and Erin got a little video and some pictures. I turned Beetle, the catch dog loose and followed her in to the hog. It was nice little boar, especially on a day when I thought we might go home empty handed. Was a good time with everybody and can't wait to do it again. Erin is getting more and more hooked every time we go.

I guess all the excitement and the early morning took it's toll. This was not long after we got back to the cabin.
